Algeria and Angola Strengthen Strategic Energy Partnership
Algeria and Angola have reaffirmed their commitment to continental energy cooperation through high-level bilateral discussions in Luanda. The meeting brought together Algeria’s Minister of State for Energy, Mines, and Renewable Energies, Mohamed Arkab, and Angola’s Minister of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas, Diamantino Pedro Azevedo.
The talks centered on deepening cooperation across the entire energy and mining value chain, from upstream exploration to downstream transformation of mineral resources. Special emphasis was placed on oil and gas development, geological research, and enhancing the added value of extractive industries through advanced processing techniques.
Both ministers agreed to expand technical exchanges and strengthen partnerships between public and private sector operators. A technical visit by Algerian energy and mining complexes, including Sonatrach and Sonarem, to Luanda has been scheduled to advance project identification and operational coordination.
Arkab highlighted the need for African energy-producing states, particularly within the African Petroleum Producers’ Organization, to coordinate efforts for optimal resource exploitation and accelerated energy sovereignty. Minister Azevedo praised Algeria’s technical excellence and industrial innovation, expressing Angola’s eagerness to adopt Algeria’s best practices.
