Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state has taken to the social media to announce the death of his mother, Grace Bosede Akeredolu.
In a message on his Facebook page, Governor Akeredolu, said, “My siblings and I announce, with deepest regret and total submission to the will of the Almighty, the passing into glory of our adorable, dutiful and ever dotting mother, Lady Evangelist Grace Bosede Akeredolu JP, this morning. She died peacefully in her sleep.”
The governor who is saddened by her departure, described his late mother as Abiyamo.
He added: “Though saddened by the departure of Maami, the one Abiyamo we knew, we are consoled with the knowledge that, even as she transits to eternity she will be guided by the strong hands of the angels of the light in which she dwelt during her eventful and fruitful sojourn on the terrestrial plane.”
The governor said, “Maami rest in perfect peace.”
The Secretary to Ondo State Government, Princess Catherine Oladunni Odu, described the death of Akeredolu’s mother as shocking and a colossal loss to the Akeredolus, christendom and the state.
Princess Odu, in a statement said Mama Grace was a peace loving and caring mother who dedicated her entire life to the service of God and the benefit of humanity.
The SSG noted that death is inevitable and dealing with it not easy. She observed that Lady Evangelist Grace devoted her resources and time to the training of her children and left a footprint that is adorable and worthy of emulation.
She expressed her deepest sympathy to the governor, his siblings and the entire Akeredolus, praying the Lord to console him.
The Secretary to the State Government also prayed the Lord grant the Governor, his siblings, the entire family and friends the fortitude to bear the loss.
In a similar vein the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ondo state council sympathised with the Ondo state governor over the demise of his mother.
A press statement jointly signed by the chairman of the union, Prince Leke Adegbite and the secretary, Olaoluwa Meshack, enjoined the governor to take solace in the fact that Mama lived a fulfilled and eventful life.
