As of September 10, the confirmed cases of COVID-19 from 55 African countries have reached 1,322,472. Reported deaths in Africa have reached 31,939, and recoveries 1,059,375. Currently, 231,156 Covid-19 cases are active and 11,979,120 tests have been performed.

South Africa has the most reported cases – 642,431, with deaths numbering 15,168. Other most-affected countries include Egypt (100,403 cases), Morocco (77,878), Ethiopia (61,700), Nigeria (55,632) and Algeria (47,216).

The numbers are compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University (world map) using statistics from the World Health Organization and other international institutions as well national and regional public health departments.
