The group chief executive officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bashir Bayo Ojulari, has held high-level talks with the United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Nigeria, Salem Saeed Al Shamsi, at the UAE Embassy in Abuja, reinforcing a bilateral energy relationship that both sides say is built for the long term.

Discussions covered upstream oil and gas investment opportunities, gas development and monetisation, crude oil trading, and infrastructure financing. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the energy ties between Nigeria and the UAE, which are rooted in a broader relationship spanning trade, diplomacy, and shared strategic interests.

Ojulari presented NNPCL as a commercially driven entity with a portfolio of bankable projects across the full energy value chain, and specifically invited value-based partnerships with UAE institutions including ADNOC, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), and the National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC).

The meeting builds on commitments made between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and UAE President Mohammed Bin Zayed, with both governments now focused on converting high-level intent into concrete investment outcomes.

NNPCL has already issued bid calls to international investors seeking partners for equity stakes in some of its assets. The Nigerian operator also shares assets in the region with major international oil companies including Shell, Chevron, Eni, and TotalEnergies.
