Kinetiko Energy has achieved a major milestone in South Africa’s energy sector, with its production test well in Mpumalanga Province delivering unprecedented flow rates of up to 188 thousand standard cubic feet per day after 14 days of continuous testing. The results mark the highest performance ever recorded by the ASX-listed company and significantly strengthen the commercial case for gas development in the region.

The well, designated 271-KA03PT06, produced a total gas volume of 2,273 thousand standard cubic feet containing approximately 98.5% methane. These results more than double the flow rates achieved at a previous well drilled in August 2025, which had already demonstrated commercial gas potential.

“The flow test results from this second well using optimized drilling techniques are the highest ever achieved by the company and provide further confidence in the commercial viability of the Brakfontein cluster,” said Adam Sierakowski, Executive Chairman of Kinetiko Energy.

The breakthrough comes as Kinetiko advances plans for a seven-well production cluster that will supply a pilot plant scheduled to begin construction in 2026. The facility is expected to produce the company’s first commercial gas output, marking a significant step toward monetizing South Africa’s shallow conventional gas resources.

Independent certifier Sproule B.V. had previously assessed that a 50 thousand standard cubic feet per day flow rate would deliver positive economics for each well in the Brakfontein-Amersfoort vicinity. The latest results from well 271-KA03PT06 substantially exceed that benchmark, supporting improved reserve estimates and enhanced development feasibility.

Gas testing continues at both the PT06 and PT10 wells as the company works to commercialize the Mpumalanga Province’s energy resources, which could play a crucial role in addressing South Africa’s energy security challenges.
