The chairman, Jigawa state Social Protection Programme (JlSOP), Comrade Shua’ibu Musa Kafingana, Tuesday, said it’s quite worrisome that the state is placed among the poorest in Nigeria.
“It is worrisome that Jigawa state is 87.2 percent in poverty and is occupying third position to Sokoto and Taraba states as defined by the National Bureau for Statistic (NBS),” Kafingana said.
He stated this while speaking to reporters at Sir Ahmadu Bello Hall, venue of the World International Day for the Eradication of Poverty in Dutse.
The chairman stated further that JISOP in collaboration with the Expanded Social Protection for Inclusive Development (ESPID) is doing everything possible to end poverty in Jigawa state.
“We are helping the lives of the down trodden in the society, through awareness and enlightenment on the need to assist the vulnerable in the society,” he added.
