Company prepares for major drilling campaign starting Q3
VAALCO Energy is set to launch its 2025/26 drilling program offshore Gabon during the third quarter, after securing a rig last December for multiple development, appraisal, and exploration wells, along with several workovers.
The campaign will focus on the Etame and Seent platforms, with particular attention to a re-drill and various workovers planned in the Ebouri Field. These operations aim to restore production and access reserves previously shut or removed from proved reserves estimates due to the presence of hydrogen sulfide (H₂S).
Earlier this year, VAALCO conducted an extended flow test on the Ebouri 4-H well to assess H₂S concentrations, supporting equipment design and evaluating the company’s chemical crude sweetening process. The well has been flowing for more than four months with H₂S concentration within modeling expectations, providing additional production despite added operating costs for chemical treatment.
Offshore Côte d’Ivoire, where VAALCO partners in the CNR-operated Baobab Field, the FPSO ceased production in January for a planned dry dock refurbishment at Drydocks World in Dubai. After departing the field in March 2024, the vessel is currently being towed to Dubai. Following its expected return in 2026, VAALCO anticipates significant new development drilling to boost production from the main Baobab Field and potentially a future development of the Kossipo Field within the same CI-40 license.
