South Offshore, a Congolese engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company, has partnered with TotalEnergies to deploy a rigless subsea light intervention package (RSLIP) in Angola. This collaboration builds on the successful implementation of RSLIP in the Republic of Congo and aims to reduce costs associated with subsea well interventions.

The offshore support vessel Siem Barracuda, previously used in Congo, arrived in Angola on February 16, 2025, to commence operations. The system enhances subsea well maintenance efficiency by replacing traditional rigs with specialized installation vessels.

South Offshore, which has been active in Africa’s oil and gas sector since 2010, specializes in offshore installations and has introduced innovative methods such as using remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) instead of divers to install I-tubes. This safety-enhancing approach was successfully applied in a 27-km electric cable installation project for TotalEnergies.

The expansion of the RSLIP system to Angola marks a significant milestone for South Offshore, with discussions already underway for further deployments in West Africa.
