NO less than five persons were feared burnt to death in a fire disaster that occured in Abuja on Friday night.
Eye witnesses said the dead were burnt beyond recognition following the explosion of a surface kerosene tank at Kubwa Satellite Town in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The actual number and the identities of the victims were unknown as of press time on Friday night.
Apart from the dead, eyewitnesses said several other persons sustained varying degrees of burns with properties destroyed.
The FCT Police Command that confirmed the incident, according to the AIT last night, said the fire had been brought under control and its officers and men deployed to the scene to prevent hoodlums from taking advantage of the inferno to cause more damage in the area.
Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, according to the AIT, said the explosion occurred in Kubwa Village Market opposite the main market.
