Seplat Energy’s CEO, Roger Brown, has revealed the company’s plans to unlock an estimated 14 trillion cubic feet (TCF) of untapped natural gas in its newly acquired assets in Akwa Ibom State. Speaking at the Heirs Energies Leadership Forum 2025 in Abuja, Brown reiterated Seplat’s commitment to enhancing Nigeria’s energy sector.
The company aims to supply 850 million standard cubic feet (scf) of gas for domestic and industrial use, aligning with the Nigerian government’s energy security goals.
Seplat Energy recently acquired Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPNU) from ExxonMobil for $1.3 billion, securing equity in 11 blocks, 48 producing fields, five gas processing facilities, and three export terminals. The acquisition is expected to double Seplat Energy’s oil production capacity and bolster its position in Nigeria’s energy sector.
