Seplat Energy is championing energy sustainability through significant infrastructure investments and technology deployment, according to COO Samson Ezugworie at the recent Society of Petroleum Engineers Nigeria Council forum in Abuja.
Addressing Nigeria’s energy poverty, Seplat has installed over 850MMscfd of gas infrastructure to supply domestic users. “With our recent MPNU assets acquisition, we will explore mass gas reserves while ensuring a significant portion powers Nigeria,” Ezugworie stated.
The company has implemented its end-of-routine-flaring roadmap to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, with Seplat’s Sapele Integrated Gas Plant’s first module now operational. Additional flare-out projects include Western Asset Flares Out, Sapele LPG Storage & Offloading Facility, and the Oben LPG Project. Seplat aims to end routine gas flaring across its onshore assets by late 2025.
Ezugworie emphasized sustainability extends beyond environmental concerns to human capacity development. “Early this month, 50 young graduates began employment with diverse training programs. This is capacity development—ensuring we have talent to replace us in the future.”
Seplat’s Corporate Social Investment initiatives have impacted over 16,000 people through teacher empowerment programs, student competitions, STEAM labs in schools, eye care services, and energy solutions for educational and healthcare facilities.
