Prices of petroleum products in Ghana are expected to decrease marginally at the pumps from April 16, 2025, according to the latest pricing outlook report guiding Oil Marketing Companies.

Petrol prices will reduce by 1.5 percent to GH₵14.88 per liter, while diesel will decrease by 0.3 percent to GH₵15.50 per liter. Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) will also drop by 0.3 percent to GH₵17.45 per kilogram.

If the over 100 Oil Marketing Companies reduce their pump prices as projected, this will mark the fifth consecutive decline in petroleum product prices since February 2025.

The projected decline has been influenced by the continuous reduction in crude oil prices on the international market, which dropped from US$72 a barrel a few weeks ago to around US$64 currently. Prices of finished petroleum products have also been decreasing internationally, with diesel down by 3.72 percent and LPG plummeting by 9.61 percent.

Despite these developments, officials from the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) have indicated that fuel price reductions alone will not trigger transport fare decreases. They cite insurance costs and spare parts prices as other major factors, noting that fuel prices would need to drop to GH₵12 per liter before fares could be reduced.
