Perenco Congo has successfully completed installation of the new Kombi 2 platform on the Kombi-Likalala-Libondo II field offshore the Republic of Congo, marking a significant milestone in the redevelopment of the mature asset and paving the way for fresh drilling activity beginning in 2026.

The project represents an investment exceeding $200 million and aims to boost production, improve recovery rates and extend the operating life of the field, where the last well was drilled more than two decades ago. Connection work is currently underway, with commissioning expected in early March 2026.

Kombi 2 will function as the central hub for a planned six-well drilling campaign starting this year, designed to increase output and optimize recovery across the KLL II development. The platform features upgraded processing and utilities infrastructure aimed at improving operational efficiency and environmental performance.

New facilities include enhanced water and effluent treatment capacity, expanded associated gas recovery and on-site power generation of approximately 8 MW from two gas turbines, supporting greater energy autonomy for field operations. The platform is expected to play a crucial role in sustaining long-term production from the KLL area through modernized infrastructure aligned with current operating standards.

Perenco has operated in Congo since 2001 and specializes in redevelopment and optimization of mature and marginal fields. Gregoire de Courcelles, Managing Director of Perenco Congo, stated that the project exemplifies Perenco’s commitment to investing in high-performance, responsible infrastructure that promotes sustainable development of national resources. The company currently produces 72,500 barrels of oil and gas per day across its Congolese operations.
