International energy consultancy Penspen has been reengaged to update the feasibility study for the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP). Initially conducted by the company in 2006, the updated study represents a key step towards realizing this ambitious project.
The updated study will comprise comprehensive analyses of the regional gas market, environmental and social impacts, and economic and financial components. These include cost estimation, legislation, consultation reviews, risk analysis, and development of scope of work for the Front-End Engineering Design.
“We are proud to have been selected to support the next phase of this transformative project, leveraging our extensive experience in cross-country pipeline engineering and development to deliver a sustainable and efficient energy solution,” stated Arun Behl, Sales & Marketing Director (Middle East and Africa) at Penspen.
Traversing 4,000 kilometers from Nigeria to Algeria, the TSGP is being developed by the respective national oil companies of Nigeria, Algeria, and Niger. The project has an impressive capacity to transport 30 billion cubic meters of gas per year and will strengthen regional trade across Africa, potentially transforming the continent’s energy landscape.
