Ebonyi governor state Dave Umahi votes

The Peoples Democratic Party, Ebonyi state chapter Sunday rejected the result of the local government elections announced by the State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC).

EBSIEC had declared the candidates of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the 171 wards and 13 LGAs as winners in the just concluded council election.

Chairman of the Commission Barr. Jossy Eze while announcing the results noted that PDP did not clinch any position in the election.

Reacting to the elections and it’s results, chairman of the PDP, Mr. Tochukwu Okorie, said, “We had earlier stated that we were not going to participate until we now saw a clear manipulation of the process coordinating in a very shoddy outing in the only local government that PDP decided to use as a test run to this entire nonsense which is Ivo LGA.

“The only thing that happened was that a certain APC chieftain, a government functionary brought in the horse of thugs with rifles shooting sporadically. I’m thanking PDP members in the local government secretariat and across the state. There are very few places where you will go to a polling unit and see any activity taking place at all. In Ivo, Ishiagu, Obiozara, Ishielu, all over the place there was no election and EBSIEC has shamefully gone ahead to announce what they said is results.

“So it is all nonsense, PDP condemns and rejects both the so-called elections and it’s outcome. There were no elections it was all just a Sharat. We will challenge the process vigorously in a court of law.

“Our candidate in Ivo wasn’t just manhandled, there was an attempt to murder him that is very well documented. These are unarmed civilians being attacked by very dangerous elements, ambushed with sophisticated weapons brought to the local government secretariat at Ishiagu for a reason I do not know, and without provocation, they were shooting, aiming at people to kill and somebody will answer for those crimes”.
