Multi-year deal worth millions to support groundbreaking African energy development

Oceaneering International has secured a game-changing contract from BP to provide crucial subsea services for one of Africa’s most promising energy developments. The multi-year agreement will see Oceaneering deliver inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR) services alongside remotely operated vehicle (ROV) operations at the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) gas field—a massive development straddling the maritime border between Mauritania and Senegal.

The initial three-year contract, with options for two additional years, includes deployment of a multi-purpose vessel equipped with two advanced work-class ROVs. Engineering preparations are already underway with field operations set to commence in Q2 2025, coinciding with the project’s celebrated first gas production milestone.

“Oceaneering has a track record of safely providing inspection, maintenance, and repair solutions globally,” stated Ben Laura, Chief Operating Officer of Oceaneering. “Our expertise in delivering high-quality subsea solutions in harsh environments was key to winning this contract.”

The GTA field, located approximately 40 kilometers offshore, represents a significant energy asset with BP holding a 56% operating interest alongside partners Kosmos Energy (27%), Petrosen (10%), and Société Mauritanienne Des Hydrocarbures (7%). The contract announcement comes as Oceaneering reports impressive Q1 2025 financial results, with revenue reaching $675 million—a 13% year-over-year increase driven by strong ROV utilization.
