Nigeria’s gas output increased by 15.6 percent month-on-month to 227,931.65 million standard cubic feet in March 2025, according to data from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission. The production comprised 119,552.75 million standard cubic feet of associated gas and 108,378.90 million standard cubic feet of non-associated gas.

This significant increase aligns with the government’s ongoing efforts to boost investment and production in the gas sector. The Nigerian LNG Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding operations through the NLNG Train 7 Project, which will increase production capacity by 35 percent, from 22 million tonnes per annum to 30 million tonnes per annum.

“This project underscores our role as a key player in the global LNG market and positions Nigeria as a top-tier supplier of LNG, leveraging its vast proven gas reserves of 202 trillion cubic feet,” stated NLNG in a recent report, highlighting Nigeria’s position as the holder of the ninth-largest gas reserves globally.
