The 2020 Global Terrorism Index has reported that Nigeria is still the third most impacted country in the world when it comes to militant attacks. However, the report did have some positive notes – deaths from terrorism in Nigeria are now 83% lower than at their peak in 2014. But the country is still vulnerable to more attacks as “renewed activity by Boko Haram in Nigeria … Cameroon, Chad, and Niger, remain a substantial threat to the region”.
