Abuja – The Association of Niger Delta Monarchs of Nigeria (ANDMON) has publicly endorsed the federal government’s decision to renew the pipeline surveillance contract awarded to Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL). The monarchs underscored the importance of this contract in bolstering oil production, curbing oil theft, and safeguarding pipeline infrastructure.
Speaking during an interactive stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja focused on amnesty, pipeline security, and energy stability, ANDMON Chairman, King Frank Okurakpo, expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for extending Tantita’s contract. He highlighted the company’s effectiveness in deterring pipeline vandalism and enhancing the protection of vital oil assets.
King Okurakpo praised Tantita Security Services’ community engagement approach, noting its success in reinforcing security within the Niger Delta.
“The President has demonstrated commitment to the progress of the Niger Delta,” he said. “A notable example is the appointment of Dr. Dennis Burutu Otuaro, a well-respected technocrat and grassroots mobilizer, to head the Presidential Amnesty Programme. His leadership has positively impacted our region, fostering peace and economic progress.”
The monarchs further urged the government to allocate sufficient funds for sustaining peace initiatives and supporting ex-agitators, arguing that such actions would spur economic development and social stability.
Additionally, they commended the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Engineer Mele Kyari, for his leadership in reforming the corporation and ensuring price stability in petroleum products.
The forum also called for unity among Niger Delta residents to support government policies aimed at transforming the region.
“We must work collectively to ensure the success of all government initiatives that seek to uplift the Niger Delta. Through unity and cooperation, we can achieve sustainable peace and development,” the monarchs affirmed.
They reiterated their commitment to collaborating with the government and security agencies to maintain stability in the region.
