The African Energy Chamber (AEC) has highlighted Namibia’s upcoming offshore oil and gas licensing round, with plans to drill seven wells in 2025. The announcement was made during a webinar hosted by the AEC, in partnership with Namibia’s Ministry of Mines and Energy and Wood Mackenzie.
Maggy Shino, Namibia’s Petroleum Commissioner, emphasized that the country is committed to fostering a sustainable operating environment while fast-tracking oil production.
With 220,000 square kilometers of offshore acreage still largely underexplored, major industry players like BW Energy, Rhino Resources, and TotalEnergies are actively pursuing new drilling opportunities.
