Some Mt Kenya leader now wants ODM leader Raila Odinga to pick Peter Kentah as his running mate ahead of the 2022 General Election. The six MPs from Murang’a county endorsed Keneth to become the running mate for Raila in next year’s presidential election. Speaking at Kihoya AIPCA church in Kangema, MPs Muturi Kigano, Wangari Mwaniki (Kigumo), Mary Wamaua (Maragua), Peter Kimari (Mathioya), and Nduati Ngugi (Gatanga) claimed Kenneth stood the best chance to deputise Raila due to his high leadership qualities. Gatanga MP Nduati Ngugi said Kenneth hailed for having the best-managed CDF during his tenure as MP. “Kenneth led Football Kenya Federation when he was only 28 years old and when he became MP, his CDF led nationally. We will follow the President’s lead and Kenneth will be our leader,” Nduati said. He said Kenneth had worked with Uhuru when he served as the assistant minister for Finance and that he has the required experience, having been in leadership since his youth days. Kimari reiterated that Kenneth had been in a leadership position for a long time; hence he was fit for that position. “The time is ripe for Kenneth to get into a national leadership position with the backing of the Murang’a people,” said Kimari. Wamaua disclosed that in 2013 and 2017, Murang’a was yarning for Kenneth to declare interest to vie for the governorship slot, but he opted for other positions. Kenneth, who vied for Presidency in 2013 and lost to President Uhuru, acknowledged the endorsement, saying he would not let down the Murang’a people. He stated that the country needed the right leaders who would work towards promoting peace and national cohesion. “This country needs committed leaders with the capacity to promote peace. Let us ignore those whose interest is on positions and not to serve the people,” said Kenneth. . .
