Libya Strengthens OAPEC Ties to Boost Oil and Gas Sector Development

The Libyan government is taking steps to maximize its benefits from membership in the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) as part of efforts to develop the country’s oil and gas sector and align with regional energy transformations.

Minister of Oil and Gas in the Government of National Unity, Khalifa Abdul-Sadig, met with OAPEC Secretary-General Jamal Al-Loughani to discuss expanding Libya’s access to the organization’s technical and economic programs. The meeting took place during Abdul-Sadig’s participation in the 9th Global Gas Exporting Countries gathering.

During their discussions, both parties reviewed the latest projects and initiatives launched by OAPEC. Minister Abdul-Sadig expressed appreciation for the remarkable development in OAPEC’s performance during recent periods and its efforts to strengthen joint Arab action in the energy sector.

According to the Ministry of Oil and Gas, the meeting represents part of Libya’s commitment to expanding cooperation with specialized regional organizations and enhancing the country’s presence and role in the global energy market. This approach aims to serve national interests and support opportunities to leverage available resources and capabilities.

The discussions focused on ways Libya can better utilize its founding membership status in OAPEC to contribute to keeping pace with regional and international transformations in the energy sector.
