The member representing Aba North and South federal constituency in the National Assembly, Chief Chimaobi Iheanyichukwu Ebisike has called on Arab Construction Company handling the reconstruction work on Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway to as a matter of urgency fix the road especially the Ariaria/ Uratta/Ala Oji flyover axis.
Speaking during a visit to the firm at Aba, Chief Ebisike commended the Arab Construction Company for the quality job they had done on other parts of the expressway, but however described the present state of Ariaria/ Uratta/ Ala oji axis of the Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway as a nightmare to both pedestrians and motorists plying the road.
He regretted that his constituents had suffered untold hardship and incurred losses because of the dilapidated road condition pointing out that fixing the road will give the people sense of belonging and ease traffic particularly during the upcoming Xmas and New year festivities.
Responding, the Project Manager Arab Construction Company, Ahmed Hussein, blamed the slow pace of work on the rains, adding they had procured all materials required to fix the Ariaria/ Uratta/ Ala Oji flyover axis of the expressway.
He promised to deploy his men in a couple days to carry out palliative work on the road while work will commence in earnest immediately the rains rescind.
Meanwhile, scores of Aba North and South residents who spoke to our correspondent lauded the efforts of Hon Chimaobi Ebisike in ensuring that the deplorable nature of the federal highway which they described as nightmare while calling on Arab Contractors to expedite action in fixing the roads now that dry season has set in.
