President Joao Lourenco of the People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) is now projected to win a second term, defeating Adalberto Costa Júnior of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA).
Angola’s election commission announced on Thursday that with 86 percent of all the votes counted, the MPLA was ahead with a 52 percent majority, while UNITA had 42 percent.
