Tobi Amusan has been nominated by the World Athletics as the 2022 Athlete of the Year.

The athletics governing body released the list of nominees on their website on Wednesday.

Amusan had a spectacular 2022 season, breaking the women’s 100m hurdles world record on her way to winning the world title.

She also broke the Commonwealth Games record, while also claiming gold.

Also nominated are Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce who ran sub 10.70s seven times in the season in the women’s 100m, compatriot Shericka Jackson, USA’s Sydney McLaughlin who broke the World Record in the women 400m hurdles and Venezuela’s Yulimar Rojas who improved her women’s triple jump world record.

Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon, Bahamas’ Shaunae Miller-Uibo, Ukraine’s Yaroslava Mahuchikh, Peru’s Kimberly Garcia and USA’s Chase Ealey are the other nominees.
