Eni Launches Major Logistics Hub to Boost Congo’s Offshore Oil Operations
Eni Congo has officially inaugurated its new Yasika logistics platform at Saipem’s base in the port of Pointe-Noire, marking a significant expansion of offshore oil and gas operations in the Republic of Congo.
The new facility is strategically designed to ensure efficient delivery of equipment, materials, and personnel to both onshore and offshore installations. The base will play a crucial role in supporting the Congo LNG project by assisting in the development of remaining gas potential within the Marine XII permit.
Yasika will serve operations for multiple major projects, including the 0.6 MMt/year Tango FLNG, which commenced production in December 2023, and the larger 2.4 MMt/year Nguya FLNG, scheduled to begin operations offshore by the end of this year. The facility will also support construction of new installations, interconnection of existing infrastructure, and modernization of facilities such as the Litchendjili complex.
The logistics base spans nearly 190,000 square meters and features impressive infrastructure including a 285-meter-long quay, 1,000 square meters of office space, 16,000 square meters of covered areas and technical workshops, a dedicated jetty for marine transport rotations, and a 1,100-square-meter treatment unit for muds and cements for drilling activities.
Additionally, Yasika will enable local fabrication of the Midwater Arch structures MWA1 and MWA2, which are essential for hydrocarbon transport as part of the broader Congo LNG project.
