Africa Energy Corp recruits former petroleum agency chief to spearhead development of massive gas discoveries
In a strategic masterstroke that signals serious intent to fast-track development of its world-class discoveries, Africa Energy Corp has appointed Phindile Masangane as head of strategy and business development to advance the high-potential Block 11B/12B in South Africa’s Outeniqua basin.
The appointment brings exceptional firepower to Africa Energy’s leadership team. Masangane brings over 15 years of executive management experience, most notably serving as chief executive officer of the Petroleum Agency of South Africa, where she advocated for sustainable development of the country’s indigenous oil and gas resources.
“She will be instrumental in assisting Africa Energy as we work to move Block 11B/12B to the development phase and bring our world-class gas and condensate discoveries to market,” said Robert Nicolella, Africa Energy’s chief executive officer. “Her vast experience in energy infrastructure development, policy and regulation, along with project finance expertise, will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the Company.”
The move aligns with expert predictions that the region hosts 20% of global LNG capacity, positioning Africa Energy to capitalize on the continent’s emerging role as a key player in global natural gas markets.
Masangane’s impressive credentials include a PhD in Chemistry from Imperial College, an MBA from University of the Witwatersrand, and experience as a partner at KPMG LLP and in leadership at Sasol South Africa.
