Within the framework of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ directives, the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation has organized an extensive meeting that included the new chairmen and operations managers of petroleum sector companies, alongside several supporting companies, to outline strategic priorities for Egypt’s oil and gas sector. The gathering signals a comprehensive push to modernize operations and improve performance across the industry.

During the meeting, Salah Abdel Kerim, EGPC’s CEO, emphasized that the current stage requires a level of commitment and performance that matches the scale of the new projects the sector is undertaking in exploration, production, refining, and distribution, especially in light of the growing domestic market demand for petroleum products. The statement reflects growing pressure on Egypt’s oil sector to meet rising energy demand while attracting foreign investment and maintaining operational efficiency.

The meeting identified several priorities for the upcoming phase. Chief among these are governance, industrial development, and the adoption of modern technologies currently utilized in global production systems. Furthermore, it was emphasized that international service companies operating in Egypt, leveraging their diverse capabilities, expertise, and long-standing relationships with the country, have a greater role to play in the coming period to achieve these goals in cooperation with production and operational partners in the petroleum sector.

The meeting highlighted the importance of integrating all employees from both production and supporting companies into the comprehensive safety system. It also emphasized working toward the adoption of a unified safety manual and performance report that addresses all operational requirements. The focus on safety reflects lessons learned from incidents across the global oil industry and recognition that safety performance is increasingly tied to investor confidence and operational licensing.

Abdel Kerim noted that the Ministry’s directives are clear in providing full support for all integrated efforts aimed at increasing production. He stated that everyone is operating within a single system whose destiny is to bear great responsibilities in securing the nation’s energy supplies and meeting all the needs required for growth and development projects.

The emphasis on governance comes as Egypt works to attract more foreign investment in its oil and gas sector, particularly for offshore gas exploration and development. The country has substantial natural gas resources but requires significant capital and technical expertise to develop them efficiently. By emphasizing governance, modern technology adoption, and unified safety standards, EGPC is positioning the sector to compete more effectively for international investment and technical partnerships.
