Egypt’s Khalda Petroleum Set to Boost Production with Two New High-Yield Wells This Month
Khalda Petroleum is preparing to bring two promising new wells online in June 2025, with combined initial production estimated at 5,400 barrels of crude oil per day. The development represents a significant boost to Egypt’s domestic oil production capabilities as part of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ accelerated exploration strategy.
The Fox Deep-02 appraisal well has revealed substantial oil-bearing layers in both the Alam El-Bueib and Alamein reservoirs, with the productive zone extending 110 feet thick. Initial testing from the Alam El-Bueib layer demonstrated impressive production rates of nearly 2,600 barrels per day, with technical tests and artificial lift pump installation scheduled for completion this month.
Meanwhile, the Tayim-W14 development well, targeting the Dessouky layer, has uncovered a 57-foot thick oil-bearing formation. Preliminary test results show promising production rates of approximately 2,800 barrels per day. Both wells are expected to commence production following final testing and equipment installation procedures.
