Egypt is positioning itself as the gateway to Africa’s energy future, with Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi announcing the country’s readiness to deepen partnerships with American energy companies during the Egypt-US Policy Leaders Forum 2025. Speaking on Monday, May 26, 2025, Minister Badawi emphasized Egypt’s strategic relationships with 57 international oil companies and highlighted the nation’s role as a continental bridge for US energy investments.

The minister showcased Egypt’s advanced oil, gas, and mining infrastructure while outlining the ministry’s commitment to adding value to natural resources. This approach aligns with the global shift toward renewable energy, strategically freeing fossil fuels for high-value industrial applications. Badawi stressed the critical importance of skilled human resources and ongoing environmental initiatives aimed at reducing emissions across the sector.

Apache CEO John Christmann praised Egypt’s comprehensive sector reforms and unwavering support for foreign partners, noting significant recent discoveries and promising gas potential in the Western Desert region. This endorsement from a major US energy player underscores Egypt’s growing attractiveness as an investment destination and operational hub for international energy companies seeking African market access.
