The Edo State Government and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited have formalized plans to establish a 10,000-barrel-per-day condensate refinery spanning Oredo and Orhionmwon Local Government Areas. The facility, targeted for completion within 24 to 36 months, is expected to produce approximately 20 truckloads of Premium Motor Spirit and 10 truckloads of Automotive Gas Oil daily to serve Edo State and neighboring regions.

Governor Monday Okpebholo, who received NNPC’s Executive Vice President for Downstream, Alhaji Mumuni Dagazia, and his management team at Government House, described the investment as a manifestation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The governor emphasized that the refinery would generate employment opportunities, alleviate poverty, and strengthen the state’s industrial foundation.

“We are delighted to welcome this major investment to Edo State. My administration is committed to creating jobs and reducing poverty, in line with the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This is a huge step for Edo, and we are proud to be part of it,” Governor Okpebholo stated. He assured the NNPC delegation that the state government would provide land, Certificates of Occupancy, security, and all necessary logistical support to facilitate the project’s success.

Alhaji Mumuni Dagazia characterized the condensate refinery as a sustainable project aimed not only at revenue generation but also at employment creation, industrial expansion, and comprehensive development of Edo State. NNPC’s Chief Downstream Investment Officer, Ikedichi Dick-Nwoke, noted that upon completion, the refinery would position Edo State as a major energy and industrial hub in Nigeria’s South-South region while boosting investor confidence and significantly expanding employment opportunities for residents.
