Cutting-edge digital technologies are propelling the Republic of Congo toward its ambitious goal of producing 500,000 barrels of oil daily, according to groundbreaking insights from global geoscience leader TGS.

In an exclusive interview during the Congo Energy & Investment Forum, TGS Senior Business Development Manager Jevon Hilder revealed how revolutionary seismic technologies and artificial intelligence are dramatically transforming exploration success rates in the resource-rich nation.

“Ocean bottom nodes and advanced computational systems aren’t just incremental improvements—they’re fundamentally changing how exploration decisions are made,” Hilder explained. “These technologies provide unprecedented subsurface visibility, allowing companies to maximize recovery from existing fields while significantly reducing costs.”

TGS, which has maintained operations in Congo for over two decades, is now leveraging machine learning to extract deeper insights from massive subsurface datasets, streamlining exploration efforts and optimizing return on investment through refined acquisition strategies.

“We’re committed to being long-term partners in Congo’s energy future,” Hilder emphasized. “Our comprehensive regional seismic data already covers more than half the country, and we’re preparing new acquisition programs to support Congo’s upcoming licensing round.”
