BW Energy has achieved a major milestone, with production at its Dussafu licence offshore Gabon reaching 40,000 barrels per day (b/d). This achievement underscores the company’s resilience and strategic expansion efforts across its global portfolio.
The company maintains its full-year production target of 27.3–30 kb/d, buoyed by the Dussafu licence’s improved output. Notably, the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel Adolo attained its 40,000 b/d capacity ahead of schedule, reflecting the success of operational recovery efforts, including the replacement of downhole electric submersible pumps (ESPs).
Strategic Expansion Plans
- Gabon (Dussafu Licence): The FPSO Adolo’s capacity may expand further, with Panoro Energy, BW Energy’s joint venture partner, projecting a ~10% production increase. Three additional wells are slated to come online in 2025.
- Brazil (Golfinho and Maromba Fields): Efforts to optimize Golfinho’s production are ongoing, with workovers and FPSO upgrades aimed at stabilizing output. The Maromba development, targeting 50,000 b/d, is advancing toward a final investment decision (FID) in early 2025.
- Namibia (Kharas Prospect): BW Energy has sanctioned an appraisal well for the Kharas exploration prospect, with drilling anticipated in the latter half of 2025.
BW Energy’s progress reinforces Africa’s upstream energy potential, aligning with broader industry goals to foster investment and innovation across the continent.
