Borr Drilling’s affiliate has secured a contract for its modern jack-up rig “Borr Gerd” to conduct a 120-day drilling campaign at the Sèmè oilfield offshore Benin. The contract was signed with Lime Petroleum, a Norwegian subsidiary of Singapore’s Rex International. Akrake Petroleum Benin, Lime’s wholly-owned subsidiary, operates the field with approximately 76% working interest, while the Benin government holds 15% and Octogone Trading 9%.

The Sèmè field, discovered in 1969, previously produced about 22 million barrels between 1982 and 1998 before operations ceased due to low oil prices. Akrake aims to submit a development plan and restart production in the second half of 2025.

The 2018-built Gerd jack-up rig, which can operate in water depths up to 400 feet and drill to 30,000 feet, will move to this assignment after completing its current work with Eni offshore Congo in May 2025.
