The leading West African art fair, set for 6–9 November 2025, will spotlight works from 31 galleries under the theme “Imagining Otherwise, No Matter the Tide,” including special projects by both established and emerging artists from across Africa and its diaspora.

Lagos prepares to host the tenth edition of ART X Lagos, West Africa’s premier international art fair, from 6 to 9 November 2025 at The Federal Palace. The event will bring together 31 galleries from Nigeria and abroad in what the organisers describe as their most ambitious edition yet.

This year’s theme, “Imagining Otherwise, No Matter the Tide,” asks how communities can envision and build healthier, more inclusive urban futures, particularly in fast-changing cities like Lagos. Special commissions already confirmed include work by photograph J.D. ‘Okhai Ojeikere, painter Nengi Omuku, and artist Temitayo Ogunbiyi.

The fair will again feature the signature mix of gallery exhibitions, Art X Talks, Art X Live!, ART X Cinema, and special projects stretching beyond the visual arts. Galleries will present installations, performance pieces, and digital works highlighting issues such as identity, memory, urban space, and community. In one special project, Victor Ehikhamenor will present Ulin-nóifo, The Lineage That Never Ends, a visual and sonic installation.

Senegalese-Moroccan artist Linda Dounia will create a digital artificial intelligence installation titled Once Upon A Garden, while Ranti Bam combines painting and clay sculptures in a performance project called Sowing Seeds In Heartland.

Founded in 2016 by Tokini Peterside-Schwebig, ART X Lagos has grown into a major platform for African creatives, drawing galleries, artists, collectors, and cultural practitioners from over 70 countries and engaging visitors from more than 170 nations.

Visiting galleries will include newcomers and returning favorites, all contributing to a programme that encourages cross-border exchange and creative experimentation. The Access ART X Prize will once more elevate young artists via its competitive selection and exhibition opportunities.

Organisers are also placing strong emphasis on audience engagement, with film screenings through ART X Cinema, panel discussions under ART X Talks, and live performances at ART X Live! aimed at expanding not only art appreciation but conversation about Africa’s social, political and environmental realities.

As Lagos gears up for this milestone tenth edition, expectations are high that ART X Lagos will deepen its role as a cultural fulcrum: connecting artists and ideas, challenging perceptions, and shaping how African art is seen, owned, and appreciated both at home and abroad.
