Angolan President João Lourenço has extended an invitation to Chinese tourists to experience the country’s attractions for themselves.

Speaking with China’s state broadcaster CCTV, Lourenço highlighted the country’s natural beauty as one of its biggest selling points. Places like the upcoming Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA), a vast nature reserve that boasts significant populations of wildlife, received particular focus.

“Angola’s natural beauty and abundant opportunities make it a perfect destination,” President Lourenco remarked. “We invite the Chinese people to discover the unique experiences Angola offers and explore the wonders of Africa.”

The Southern African country boasts a wealth of marine life and beautiful beaches along its 1,650-kilometre coastline. The cooling influence of the Atlantic, along with the country’s varied terrain, grants Angola a comfortable climate despite its proximity to the equator.

That varied terrain also makes different kinds of vacation possible, from beach holidays to safaris. The KAZA is touted as “a safari connoisseur’s dream destination.”

China has the largest outbound travel market in the world, both by number of trips and money spent. Securing even a fraction of that spending could help Angola revitalise its tourism sector, generate new employment opportunities and elevate its position as a tourist destination globally.
