Amea Power, a leading renewable energy company, has commenced construction on a 50 MW solar power project in Ivory Coast. This $60 million investment marks the company’s first operational asset in the country and aligns with national efforts to increase renewable energy’s share to 45% of the total energy mix.
Located in Bondoukou, the solar farm will generate 85 GWh of clean electricity annually, benefiting approximately 358,000 households. The project, co-financed by FMO and DEG, is expected to offset around 52,000 tons of CO2 emissions.
Hussain Al Nowais, Chairman of Amea Power, emphasized the project’s significance: “This 50 MW solar plant represents a major milestone for Ivory Coast and underscores Amea Power’s commitment to delivering sustainable energy solutions across Africa. We are proud to collaborate with the government and people of Ivory Coast on this transformative journey.”
