Algeria’s state-owned oil giant Sonatrach has formalized two new Memoranda of Understanding with Occidental Petroleum, expanding their existing energy partnership. The first agreement establishes a framework for collaborative development of carbonate reservoirs, while the second focuses on implementing enhanced oil recovery techniques to optimize production efficiency. This strategic alliance builds upon ongoing joint efforts in the Berkine contract area, where both companies already work alongside industry heavyweights Eni and TotalEnergies. The partnership underscores Algeria’s commitment to maximizing hydrocarbon potential through technological innovation and international collaboration.
