Air bp Strengthens African Footprint Through Strategic Angola Partnership

British aviation fuel supplier Air bp is expanding its African operations through a comprehensive technical services agreement with Sonangol, Angola’s state-owned oil company. The partnership represents another strategic milestone in Air bp’s 80-year history of African operations, demonstrating the company’s commitment to supporting local aviation sector development.

Under the new agreement, Air bp will provide extensive engineering integrity, operability and efficiency expertise for fuel infrastructure at Dr. Antonio Agostinho Neto International Airport in Luanda. The comprehensive technical services package includes online training programs, operational workshops, maintenance processes, digital tools access, and advanced airfield automation systems.

Technical Services Director Gethin Jones emphasized the proven success of this established model across multiple countries, leveraging world-class technical leadership and local language capabilities. The collaboration enables Air bp to provide operational assurance while building internal capability to support aviation business development and ensure optimal resource utilization.

Sonangol DC CEO Mauro Graça expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting how Air bp’s extensive experience and technical expertise will strengthen the company’s ability to provide high-quality aviation services while maximizing operational efficiency and ensuring compliance with international safety and environmental standards.
