World no. 4 Alexander Zverev will compete at the ATP Finals for the fifth time in a career in Turin in November. The 24-year-old has been a regular guest at the season-ending ATP event since 2017, winning eight out of 15 matches and claiming the title in 2018 with victories over Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.
Alexander scored three wins in London in the previous two seasons and will try to improve his tally at the first edition of the ATP Finals in Turin. Zverev has won 47 out of 59 matches in 2021, with four ATP titles in Acapulco, Madrid, Tokyo and Cincinnati.
The German lost to Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open quarter-final after three and a half hours and claimed the season’s first trophy in Acapulco in March after toppling Stefanos Tsitsipas. After early losses in Miami, Monte Carlo and Munich, Alexander found his A-game in Madrid and reached the title clash after beating Kei Nishikori, Daniel Evans, Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem.
In the final, the German lost the opener to Matteo Berrettini before bouncing back to lift the trophy and improve his season. Nadal defeated Zverev in the Madrid quarter-final, and he reached the Roland Garros semi-final, giving his best but falling to Tsitsipas in five sets.Alexander earned only four wins in Halle and Wimbledon for a mediocre grass campaign and was determined to show his best tennis in the upcoming weeks on hard. The German scored six wins at the Tokyo Olympics to secure the gold medal, performing an incredible comeback against Novak Djokovic in the semis and storming over Karen Khachanov in the final to embrace Olympic glory.

Heading to Cincinnati with no wins at this Masters 1000 event, the German earned five triumphs to secure another title and 1000 ATP points. Seeking the first Major crown, Zverev played well at the US Open to reach the semis and gave Djokovic a proper fight before losing in five thrilling sets.
Alexander is through to the quarter-final at this week’s Indian Wells Masters, beating Gael Monfils in straight sets in the fourth round and facing Taylor Fritz in the quarters on Friday. “I’ve had my best season so far, and I am thrilled to have qualified.
I will be playing in Turin for the first time, and I love competing in Italy in front of passionate fans. I have had good results in Italy and hope it will continue that way,” Alexander Zverev said.
