Pancontinental Energy has launched a feasibility study to reprocess existing 3D seismic data from its PEL 87 licence offshore Namibia, aiming to sharpen the quality and interpretation of the dataset as it advances exploration work in the Orange Basin. In its quarterly activities report for the period ending June 30, 2026, the company said the study will weigh different processing approaches, including post-stack and pre-stack techniques, with qualified seismic firms invited to submit proposals and test-process a small sample of the dataset to gauge potential quality gains against cost and timing.
The reprocessing work is tied to conditions attached to the licence’s extended First Renewal Exploration Period, after Pancontinental’s local subsidiary won a 12-month extension from Namibia’s Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy through to January 22, 2027. The ministry has also indicated the draft amendment to the PEL 87 petroleum agreement is acceptable, with both sides moving toward signing.
Pancontinental said it continues to hold confidential talks with several parties interested in farming into the licence, and once a partner is secured it plans to work with the ministry to schedule the committed exploration well. The company ended the quarter with $2.4 million in cash.
