Libya’s National Oil Corporation says its Sirte Oil Production and Manufacturing Company has completed operational testing of the metering station needed to convert the Sirte Steam Power Plant from liquid fuel to natural gas, the first phase of the switchover. The next stage involves filling the branch pipeline and commissioning the pressure reduction station ahead of supplying the plant’s generating units with gas, with remaining tests expected to wrap up and deliveries to begin within days.
NOC said the shift is intended to improve operating efficiency, cut reliance on liquid fuel, and deliver economic and environmental benefits while supporting Libya’s electricity sector and expanding domestic gas use.
