Geoscience data company Viridien has commenced a major seismic reimaging project in the Tano Basin offshore Ivory Coast — designated CDI25 — delivering an advanced, drill-ready multi-client dataset that the company says will materially enhance exploration success rates along the West African Atlantic margin.

The CDI25 project builds on Viridien’s four years of continuous activity in Ivory Coast and applies a suite of cutting-edge digital processing and imaging workflows, including Ghost Wavefield Elimination, advanced de-multiple techniques, and Time-Lag Full-Waveform Inversion. Together, these technologies are designed to deliver high-bandwidth seismic images with improved deep imaging clarity and sharper structural and stratigraphic resolution.

Covering 6,555 square kilometres, the project will ultimately provide explorers with a seamless, basin-scale 3D seismic volume across 16,000 square kilometres of the Tano Basin. Fast-track results are expected by the fourth quarter of 2026, with final deliverables available by the second quarter of 2027. The dataset will offer critical subsurface context not only for exploration targets within the Tano Basin — including the recently discovered Calao Channel complex — but also for adjacent acreage around the prolific Baleine field.

“The recent Murene South and Baleine field discoveries highlight the growing importance of Tano Basin and the industry value of our multi-year reimaging programme,” said Dechun Lin, Head of Earth Data at Viridien. “Viridien is proud to support exploration offshore Ivory Coast with cutting-edge data that is generating new insights to reveal further opportunities in this prolific basin.”
