The National Oil Corporation of Libya commemorated the 64th anniversary of the country’s first crude oil export with the unveiling of multiple significant projects at Sirte Oil Company. Chairman Masoud Suleiman presided over the ceremony marking the historic occasion when Libya’s first oil shipment departed from Brega oil port to Genoa, Italy.

Suleiman described the anniversary as holding a special place in the hearts of all Libyans, representing the true beginning of a national journey that made a significant difference. During the ceremony, he launched an extensive portfolio of projects including the expansion of the Abu Thar Al-Ghifari Mosque, upgrades to control and electrical systems at the Marsa Brega refinery, and installation of a main power distribution station.

The NOC Chairman praised the efforts and determination of workers across all sites and positions in Libya’s oil sector, describing them as unsung heroes who keep this vital lifeline pumping with production and contribution. He reaffirmed the corporation’s commitment to independence, transparency, neutrality, and responsibility, always prioritizing Libya’s interests above all else.

Additional projects include construction of a drilling materials warehouse at the Al-Laheeb field, establishment of maintenance workshops, administrative offices, a planning department building, and a recreational facility, alongside a housing project for single workers with capacity for 128 beds. The company is also undertaking maintenance of its beach restaurant and café. The ceremony featured the commencement of operations at the Southern Al-Khair field, representing Phase Two of the Al-Khair Field formerly known as Camellia concession, and the inauguration of the company’s new media centre.
