Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi met with Iman Hill, Country Manager of Vaalco Energy in Egypt, to discuss the US-based company’s expansion plans in Egypt and its strategy to utilize renewable energy sources at operational sites in the Eastern Desert.
Hill expressed appreciation for the significant support provided by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, noting that regular payment of arrears has encouraged the company to intensify its work in the Eastern Desert through an ambitious program that began last December.
The company plans to operate three wells using solar energy and connect production facilities with renewable energy sources, including both solar and wind power. Hill also mentioned ongoing work in the South Ghazalat area in the Western Desert, one of Vaalco’s concession areas in Egypt.
Badawi praised Vaalco’s decision to intensify operations and explore new concession opportunities, particularly in the Eastern Desert. He affirmed that these moves demonstrate growing confidence in Egypt’s policy of honoring financial commitments to its international partners.
