Angola celebrates this Friday, 11 November its 47 years of independence in 1975 attained in 1975 by the proclamation of the founding father of the nation, President António Agostinho Neto.
This year, the Embassy of Angola in the Republics of Nigeria, Benin and Niger, chose the city of Cotonou to mark the Independence Day celebrations with the theme: “ANGOLANS TOGETHER FOR THE FUTURE”.
The date will be marked by two photographic exhibitions; one of it will highlight the Centenary of Dr. Agostinho Neto, the nation´s founding father and the first president of Angola and the other will focus on social and economic infrastructures that challenge the ability of Angolans and the screening of a film about the 100th anniversary of Neto’s birth.
In addition to a poetry recital by Dr. Agostinho Neto, the celebrative ceremony of the Independeca Day in Cotonou-Benin will be dominated by characterized by the adress of His Excellency, Dr. Eustáquio Januário QUIBATO, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Angola in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Republics of Benin and Niger, before their Excellencies Members of Diplomatic Corps, Beninese deputies , Academias, businessmen and distinguished guests.
His Excellencey the Ambassador will present the political assessment of the 47 years of Independence dominated by achieved preace, reunification of Angolans and the economic reconstruction.
ANGOLA IN NUMBERS AND INVESTMENTS
After a journey of war and national reconstruction, Angola is now focused on Economic Diplomacy to attract investments in infrastructures.
With an investments above 8 Billion american Dollars in hydroelectric dams, photovoltaic plants and transportation, Angola is wants to increase its electricity generation from the 6 Giga Watts to 8 Giga Watts, to allow 33 million citizens have access to rural and urban electrification by 2025.
Presently three refineries are being built from the scratch in the Provinces of Cabinda with production capacity of 60,000 Barrels Per day; Soyo-Zaire, with capacity of daily production of 100,000 Barrels and also in Lobito-Benguela with daily capacity production of 200,000 Barrels all these in the gear towards self-sufficiency.
Once this goal is achieved, the ANGOLAN PETROCHEMICAL INDUSTRY and its strengths will be relaunched to generate more youth employment.
In order to fight the perennial drought in the south of Angola, the Government projects to invest about 5 billion American Dollares by 2027 with the construction of 4 dams in the provinces of Cunene, Huíla and Namíbe, 120 water dams and several channels to transfer water to the populace, livestock and pasture.
