The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Thursday, assured that their portal and server were secured for electronic transmission of votes on the 2023 general elections.

The INEC Head of Information Communication Technology (ICT), Mr Chukwuemeka Nnaji, disclosed this in an interactive session organised by the management of the commission at Anambra state headquarters of the commission.

He said the commission would store their information on cloud with adequate security, having put into considerations, activities of Internet hackers and other technical hitches that affect online business.

Also speaking, the INEC Administrative Secretary in Anambra state, Mr Jude Okwuonu, explained that with electronic transmission of results, Bimodal Voting and Accreditation System (BVAS) and other innovations introduced by the commission, it would be difficult to manipulate the election.

Okwuonu also disclosed that the electronic transfer of results and other innovations brought into the system by the Commission were preparing ground for electronic voting and other considerations in future elections.

He further assured those who participated on the recently concluded continuous voters registration exercise that the commission would ensure they collect their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVC) before the 2023 general elections.

Other management staff of the commission equally used the occasion to enumerate other measures they put in place legally and otherwise to ensure that the 2023 poll was transperance and hitch-free.
