Former chairman, Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Enugu state chapter, Barrister John Nwobodo, has said there was nothing wrong with the Governor Wike’s endorsement of the governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Similarly, the ex-chairman of Enugu state IPAC noted that the same goes to support given by Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, representing Enugu East senatorial district, who endorsed the presidential candidate of APC, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

Nwobodo said the Constitution of Nigeria guarantees every Nigerian the inalienable right to support whoever he/she wants to support irrespective of the person’s ethnic, cultural or political inclination.

The former IPAC boss, who was also the former chairman, Conference of Nigerian Political Parties, CNPP, said that people should be free to have freedom of association and expression as they deem fit, saying that it did not constitute anti-party by the duo.

He, however, said that if their political party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), felt otherwise, they should seek redress in a court of competent jurisdiction for interpretation.

“The Constitution guarantees freedom of association and speech.  If the party feels otherwise, they should deal with the issue according to the Constitution.

“That the Governor of Lagos is doing well, there is nothing wrong if Wike supports him.  Wike has not done anything wrong by commending Governor Sanwo-Olu,” he declares.

Speaking in the same vein, Nwobodo said Nnamani, who was equally a former governor like Tinubu had the right to support him. “He is free to support whoever he wishes to support,” Nwobodo points out.

He posited that if one’s party is not doing well, one has the right to express one’s views like Wike and Nnamani have done.

“When your party is not doing well, you have to make your views known.  PDP has not been fair in the way they are running the party,” Nwobodo avers.
