The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has commended the Governor of Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodimma, for preventing illegal elective Congress in the state.
Recall that some faceless individual had converged on Owerri, the Imo state capital last week to conduct an illegal NYCN state chapter elective.
NYCN President, Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo in a letter dated 9th September 2022 made available to journalists said the Governor, acting on an intelligent security report prevented the illegal that was orchestrated to cause disunity, crisis and disaffection among the Youth of Imo State from holding.
The letter titled:Re – NYCN State Congress: Letter of Appreciation to the Imo State Governor berated Hon. Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Dan Ogu for being a party to illegality.
The letter read in part “May I, on behalf of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) and the entire members of NYCN, Imo State Chapter, thank your Excellency for listening to the voice of reason by putting to halt the illegal congress/election as planned by the Hon. Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Dan Ogu.
“Your Excellency, by this singular action, you have earned the continued support and love of the Nigerian Youth.
“The government of Imo State, under your Excellency, is known for love, peace and care for the people, particularly the Youth.
” We are glad that the evil plan orchestrated to cause disunity, crisis and disaffection among the Youth of Imo State, by Hon. Dan Ogu and his friends who are bent on causing Youth restiveness in Imo State did not materialize. They are, indeed, the enemies of the government and the Youth of Imo State.
“Your Excellency, may I use this medium to register our happiness with your developmental strides, particularly on road constructions, since you assumed office as the Governor of Imo State.
“Sir, be assured that our members in Imo state are ever ready to key into your good governance to ensure that they continue to benefit from your programmes.
“Your Excellency, I wish to assure you that the National leadership of NYCN, under my watch, will ensure a smooth inauguration of the new set of Executives of the Imo State Chapter of NYCN, in line with our constitution.
“Finally, Your Excellency, we are aware that in the Cabinet of the Imo State government many Young and Intelligent Comrades understand the modus operandi of the National Youth Council of Nigeria. To ensure lasting peace and stability in the Imo State Chapter of NYCN, it will be advisable that such person(s) be allowed to relate with us and mediate between the government and the National Executive Council (NEC) of NYCN, to ensure speedy resolutions”.
